How to determine static IP .... ?

Part 1: Determine your current Network Settings for windows XP

a)  Connect an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on your broadband modem to the WAN port on the back of the CellTech Magic adapter.

b)  Connect a second Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the back of the CellTech Magic adapter to the Ethernet port on the computer.

c)  Turn on the computer.

d)  Click on the Start Menu, click Settings and then click Control Panel. (Note: You may only need to click Start and then Control Panel depending on your version of Windows XP.)
In the Control Panel window, double click on the Network Connections icon.

e)  Select the Local Area Connection you will be using to connect to your CellTech Magic device and double click on it.

f)  Select Properties.

g)  Use the scroll bar on the right to scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

h) Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then select Properties.

i) In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click the button for Obtain IP address automatically. Make sure to write down the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway, Primary and Secondary DNS on a piece of paper Click OK to save.

Part 2: Determine your current Network Settings for windows 98

a)  Connect an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on your broadband modem to the WAN port on the back of the CellTech Magic adapter.

b)  Connect a second Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the back of the CellTech Magic adapter to the Ethernet port on the computer.

c)  Turn on the computer.

d)  Click on the Start Menu, click Settings and then click Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, double click on the Network icon.

e)  Select the TCP/IP option for the Ethernet adapter you will be using to connect to your CellTech Magic device and then select Properties.

f)  In the TCP/IP Properties window, click the IP Address tab and then click the button for Obtain IP address. automatically.

g)  Click the Gateway tab. In the installed gateway field click on the IP address then click Remove.

h)  Click the DNS Configuration tab and then click the button for Disable DNS.

i)  Click OK.

j)  You will now be prompted to restart your computer. Close all open programs and click Yes.

If the network set is static ip make sure you save all the information on the paper and when you connect your CellTech Magic. You will need to enter all that information in the CellTech Magic Adapter so that It will connect to your ISP.
